Speech Therapy in-home office
Serendipity Speech Therapy is a privately owned pediatric speech-language therapy practice located in Washington DC. I provide comprehensive speech-language evaluations and treatment, typically to children between the ages of two and 11 years of age. I provide individual therapy sessions at my home office.
I am licensed in the District of Columbia and I am certified by the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). I have received training in both PROMPT and oral-motor techniques. I have a passion for implementing the Visualization/Verbalization technique to improve your child's comprehension, oral expression and written expression.
At a very young age I knew that I wanted to work with children to help them achieve their optimal potential. I ventured into speech-language pathology because it would be a great opportunity to facilitate a child's ability to communicate efficiently and effectively. I obtained my undergraduate degree and put my skills to action. I worked as a pediatric speech therapist for over 8 years. After many years of experience, I decided to pursue my master's degree in speech language pathology to refine and further enhance my skills. I have over 15 years of experience and I am passionate about what I do for a living. I am known to be fun-loving, silly, energetic, and compassionate, and I adore all children. It is so great that I can use my professional skills and ultimately improve the life of a child.
Serendipity Speech Therapy does not currently participate with any insurance. You will be billed directly for services, and payment is due upon receipt of your invoice. Serendipity Speech Therapy can submit evaluations and treatment notes to insurance for reimbursement. Serendipity Speech Therapy will provide an invoice that contains all the codes necessary for insurance reimbursement.
I typically work with children that range between the ages of 2 to 11 years.
*Please feel free to call/email with any questions and concerns you may have about your child. I will be happy to help.
Ever since Stacey from Serendipity Speech Therapy started working with our now 2-year old, she pretty much became everyone in my family's favorite person. Luke was 20-months old with a speech motor-planning delay when we first sought speech therapy services. He wasn't mimicking words, closing his mouth fully, or even saying "mama." Now, 6 months later, he can say anything anyone prompts him to say, has 3-4 word phrases, and can correctly identify objects, such as "Mama wine." As any parent knows, it is a tremendous joy to hear your child start to speak (before the point when you wish they would stop!) and Stacey has the tremendous talent to bring that gift to your child and your family. My son talks about 'Tacey on a daily basis, runs to open the door when she comes, and attends to her every cue. My older son used to call Stacey the "speech fairy" which was both a mishearing of the word "therapy" and yet the total truth. Stacey has become a true family friend and we are sad to imagine that she has worked her way out of a job with us! So as we come close to graduating back onto the normal spectrum of toddler speech, I'm writing to share her with anyone who might be in need of a speech fairy. She is the best!
Our son has grown by leaps and bounds since working with Stacey. When we first started working with her, my son was two years old and wasn't really saying any words at all. Stacey made weekly visits to our home to work with him, and within a matter of weeks, he was talking. When he started day care, she would even go to his day care center every week to meet with him. He loved playing with her and would look forward to it every week. Within months, he was so chatty we wondered if he would ever stop talking! We could not have had a better experience and highly recommend Stacey.
I have seen my son grow so much since he's been working with Stacey. His confidence level and communication skills have soared while his level of frustration has decreased. Each week Stacey prepares different activities that target his speech goals and changes them up to keep him engaged. My son's articulation has improved during speech therapy and he has begun to transfer his improved articulation into his daily speech. Others comment to me on a regular basis about how much his speech has improved. Stacey has been very knowledgeable of our son’s needs and has been very good at communicating what she is teaching him and what we can do at home to encourage his development. She has been wonderful to work with and I would strongly recommend Stacey to anyone.
Stacey's passion for life carries over to each and every client she treats. I had the pleasure of working with her in DC and admire her professional and personalized approach to speech therapy. She enjoys her work and gives 100% to each child so they can be their best.
We saw Stacey over the summer when my daughter was on break from her school-supplied speech therapy. After 3 months of working with Stacey, everyone remarked at how far my daughter's speech and articulation had come! Stacey helped my daughter seamlessly transition between therapists, and communicated with multiple therapists and specialists to ensure that my daughter received excellent, consistent treatment. She is flexible, creative, and an all-around joy to work with!
We feel so fortunate to have found Stacey at Serendipity Speech, She is an extraordinary speech therapist. Not only was Stacey familiar with the latest literature and optimum treatment for our daughter, her upbeat and persistent approach motivated our daughter to work hard, have fun and, most importantly, make great progress with her speech. Stacey was also great about communicating to us what our daughter was working on and how we could best reinforce the work at home.
